Episys® Consulting for Data Center Relocation and Network Upgrades

Symitar® Network and Hardware Services provides an experienced project manager to coordinate resources within the Symitar and Jack Henry & Associates organizations to help ensure cross-platform case management and accountability. A network field engineer consults on the overall project scope including network configurations, network diagram review and design, DNS validation, updates to Symitar’s VPN solution for both primary and secondary servers, Episys host server communications, third-party communication and onsite or remote support for each event. In the event of a data center relocation, a network field engineer will prepare the Episys host prior to the system move and physically reassemble and test the host at the new location.

Episys® Network Analysis/Site Assessment

The Symitar® Network and Hardware Services (NHS) group provides network analysis for both existing and conversion clients. Engineers identify hardware and network issues that have the ability to impact Symitar applications. Analysis includes network diagram review, server statistical data, and network connectivity validation. Server performance is analyzed with NMON data, memory utilization, disk space utilization, AIX/Episys versions, and processor utilization reports. In addition, NHS engineering will evaluate current Episys network performance, conduct a site survey to review network setup and devices, analyze circuit latency and bandwidth, and provide packet loss analysis. Engineering creates and provides a comprehensive Episys Network Analysis Report which includes a summary of all data and recommendations.

IBM® DS3500 Encryption for security

The IBM® DS3500 provides Self Encrypting Disk (SED) drives for the added security of encryption of data at rest. The DS3500 used by Symitar® is based on IBM® technology utilizing high-performance and dependable SAS drives and has been thoroughly tested with Episys®. This system includes hot spare drives, redundant cooling, multiple data paths, and battery-backed cache.

IBM® Solid State Disks (SSDs) for performance

Third-generation enterprise class solid-state drives (SSDs) are the latest in POWER7 storage media enhancements and offer significant performance advantages over traditional disk drives. There is no rotational delay and a single SSD can drive thousands of input/output operations per second as opposed to hundreds for disk drives. SSDs are available as internal and direct attached storage with the Power 7 server.

IBM® POWER7® Host

Servers using IBM’s 64-bit POWER7+ processors enable applications to run faster with fewer processors, which can reduce software licensing costs and provide more processing power even when processor-intensive tasks are running. Credit unions deploying POWER7+ typically experience an immediate and dramatic decrease in processing time for backups as well as overnight and month-end processing.
